Ayomide Bayowa is Mississauga’s newest in a line of talented Poet Laureates, performing his first duty at the city’s annual Remembrance Day memorial celebration earlier this month. We caught up with Ayomide – a student of the University of Toronto – Mississauga campus, who is not only recognised for his achievements in poetry and writing but also as a filmmaker to discuss how his experiences moving to Canada from Nigeria have influenced his work, and what continues to keep him motivated to continue creating.
